Obituary

Catherine de Bary Sleight, Age 59, died peacefully in her home, surrounded by her loved ones, on Nov. 25th, 2010, after living with cancer for 10 years. Born Oct. 18th, 1951 to Professor W.T. and Fanny de Bary, she was a graduate of Barnard College (’73) and Columbia University’s School of Journalism (’76). In 1985, she married William (Bill) Sleight. Together they owned a company that represented several high-tech magazines and published EC.Com Magazine, for which she was the Editor-In-Chief. Her warm smile and joyful manner attracted many friends, especially in the communities of her childrens’ schools (Sunnymont, Blue Hills Elem., Christa McAuliffe Elem., Monta Vista, Woodside Priory) as well as Environmental Volunteers, Church of the Ascension and the Stanford Cancer Center where a poster of her lit up the lobby.
She is survived by her loving husband, Bill; two sons, Sean and Ryan; a daughter, Cynthia; her father, William Theodore; two sisters, Brett and Bea; a brother, Paul; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, all of whom she loved dearly.
